5

Our baby turned 5 on 11/11/13,
Wow how time flies!

Gavin is in pre-k 5 days a week and really loves it, other than the occasional free day he has gotten use to going to "school" 5 days a week.  Its really cute to watch him learn to write, work on homework and of course tell us all about what they are learning that day. We just had conferences and he is doing great, learning a ton, and working together well with his classmates.

Gavin continues to be easy going and mellow, no surprise there!  He really only gets upset when we wake him early to go to daycare, when he is over tired, and when Kaylee is trying to push his buttons, that little sister of his.......is another story:)  Gavin is always on the go, he is always working with his art projects (at home or at school) and is constantly building things (forts, castles, tents, boats).  When he feels like it he plays really well with Kaylee as long as she is in the mood to be bossed around.  They play all sorts of games and are so stinking cute together.

Food, Gavin continues to be a very picky eater, he usually will not try something new.  He continues to love anything having to do with fruit, yogurt, smoothies, applesauce.  He loves his carbs; crackers, cereal, pasta (most of the time and without any sauce) bread, pancakes, French toast, baked goods, and of course pizza!  He still is not crazy about meat, he will occasionally eat a hot dog here and there, sometimes rotisserie chicken, chicken nuggets (he has started to refuse these at times), but all in all he prefers not to eat any of it.   We have discovered he likes ham, but only once or twice a week anything more than that is excessive in his book.  He loves treats like any kid and would prefer that over regular food, crazy kid!

Gavin continues to be a good sleeper, goes down about 9pm and wakes up between 7-730am.
Not bad at all.  He loves books and insists that a bedtime story will help him fall asleep quicker.  He is usually right, he is out like a light when he does go to bed.
Naps are a no go for him, unless he is sick, then he will "try" to rest.

Gavin is always talking about traveling and going here and going there.  Not sure if he realizes how much he has traveled for being only 5 but he loves his world map and talks about it all the time.  They are working on time at school and he has recently picked up interest in all calendars, clocks, and watches.  Its really cute!

Gavin's birthday was on a Monday this year so both AJ and I worked for the first time ever:(  We picked him up from Daycare early and asked him what he wanted to do; go to the park, hike up the mountain, go to the play area, ect....  All he wanted to do was pick out a cake (ice cream cake) and go home and eat grilled cheese with tomato soup (separately not together).  So he got to pick out a cake and we let him carry it the whole way home, surprisingly it made it home in one piece.  He had balloons and a ton of presents shipped to him so we just hung out for the night.  Then on Saturday Gavin got to have his first friend birthday party ever, we rented out an area in an indoor play area and he had about 7 friends join him for more cake, presents, pizza, ice cream and a lot of play time.  Gavin had a blast so it was totally worth the extra time, money and effort for that:)

We have been asking him to hold up 5 fingers a lot lately and he sometimes responds with
"double fives" Sooner than later he will be holding up ten fingers, AGH!

Helping Daddy change the oil on the car
He saw this sled at Costco in September and has been talking about it non stop, poor kid has no snow for it but has used is "sledding off the couch" a couple times.  We will have to bring it up to Flagstaff this winter when we go look for snow.

Now that his birthday is over this kid has started bugging us to get started on xmas!
